About

Hi, I’m Isabel, I am a Melbourne based journalism student studying at Deakin University with a passion for storytelling, culture, the natural world, history and human connection.

Through feature writing, film photography, social media and multimedia storytelling, I really enjoy curating work that is engaging, authentic and sincere. As a journalist, I don’t underestimate the reach and impact my work can have, which is why human connection is so important to me. Being able to relay these conversations in a way that is accessible and meaningful to broader audiences is what pushes me to become a better journalist.

I am looking to continue developing my skills across multiple journalism avenues, with a keen interest in feature and photo journalism. Doing the research, travelling to new places and speaking to people to uncover a story is what drives my curiosity and the love I have for this career. Being able to connect to people of all walks of life with a shared interest excites me. I also hope to gain more knowledge in audio and podcasting journalism. Being given the opportunity to invite guest speakers into the space and having access to a live feed would deepen my understanding of the on air audio production.

I am eager to continue learning and growing in this field and to produce work that reflects the human experience or to uncover the stories that shape the world we live in.
